Construction:
Two Layer Wall
Layer 1: HDPE Material (The HDPE hull easily absorbs shocks and collisions with sharp objects)
Layer 2: PE Foam
Flotation:
The US Coast Guard requires small boats to pass a flotation/stability test in which all air chambers are punctured and flooded, and the boat still surfaces when fully loaded with persons, gear and motor weight. The Mantus dinghy passes this test. Of note, Inflatable and Rigid Inflatable boats are excluded from this Coast Guard safety requirement as a “different type of boat”. You can picture what happens when they are fully punctured.
Max Capacity:
US Coast Guard has strict rules that limit Maximum Weight Capacity for a small boat < 20 feet. Mantus Dinghy underwent rigorous testing to determine maximum capacity. For comparison Inflatables and Rigid Inflatables are excluded from these rules and their Maximum Capacity Labels are arbitrary manufacturer recommendations.
